Since a few days the visit of the Superior General, Fr. Luis Ignacio Rois Alonso OMI, to our Assumption Province has been underway. He started his visit by traveling to one of the Congregation's northernmost missions located in the Arctic, where he baptized several Inuit children and saw the reality of the daily work of missionaries in the far north. Padre Chicho continued his visit by visiting our parishes in the Great Toronto Area (GTA) togheter with Fr. Eugene Benedict OMI, General Councillor, meeting with the Canadian Polish community, young people and friends of the Oblate missions. Another important event was a meeting with the Oblate community from the Toronto District at the Queen of Apostles Renewal Centre , which was also attended by a delegate from the Winnipeg District. When asked about his first impressions about our Province, Father General said that every province in the Congregation has something unique that sets it apart from others, in our case it is the focus on our ministry, impressive work with youth and vocations (which is an exception in our region). At the end, the Superior General blessed us with the Oblate cross of our Founder.
