Rome - a formation session for new Major Superiors

Rome - a formation session for new Major Superiors

Tuesday, November 28, 2023

A formation session for new Major Superiors of the Congregation is underway at the General House in Rome, in which our new Provincial Fr. Jacek Nosowicz OMI is participating. The session is aimed at building fraternal bonds among the Provincials and also to give them practical tools for efficient management and exercise of the ministry of superior. The session is attended by 18 major superiors: nine provincials from different regions (Colombo, Jaffna, India, Poland, Canada - Assumption Province, Haiti, France, Namibia, South Africa) and five delegation superiors (Guatemala, BOLPER, Madagascar, Zambia, Ukraine) and four provincial vicars (South Africa, Namibia, Colombo, Poland).
Today, the participants of the session, together with the Superior General, celebrated Mass at the tomb of St. Peter. The Superior General, Luis Ignacio Rois Alonso, during his homily addressed the new major superiors: “At the tomb of Peter, today we give thanks to the Church for having given us the Constitutions and Rules (CCRR) as a sure way to live the Gospel and to be holy missionaries. Our best service to the Church will be to read, pray and live these CC and RR. In a few years we will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the papal approval of our CC and RR. We as major superiors have a very important role in the animation of our confreres. Let us commit ourselves today, before the altar of Peter, to do everything in our power to put them into practice personally and communally and thus be pilgrim missionaries of hope in communion.” (full text of the homily: https://www.omiworld.org/2023/11/28/major-superiors-in-st-peters-basilica/)
