Another Christmas behind us. Gatherings with family, a festive dinner together, a visit to church. But this is not how Christmas is celebrated everywhere. Fr. Daniel from the Canadian north shows us how Christmas is celebrated in the far north.
“In Nunavut Christmas is celebrated rather on a community level. In Naujaat the midnight Mass is celebrated together with Anglican congregation and then on Christmas Day the Catholic Mission prepares a community feast at the school gym followed by games. The games and dances are enjoyed by all ages from youngest to oldest and they last until the New Year. Quviasugitti Aniviani - Merry Christmas (in Inuktitut).”
