From May 3–9, Fr. Marcin Serwin OMI had the unique and humbling opportunity to be in Rome—a trip originally planned for meetings to help organize the Jubilee for Youth. However, with the passing of Pope Francis, everything changed. Many of the scheduled gatherings were put on hold as the Church entered a period of mourning and profound preparation for the election of a new pope. What followed was a time of unity, urgency, and deep spiritual focus—a true “all hands on deck” moment for those in Rome.
In the midst of this transition, he was blessed to work with a dedicated team bridging communication between the Cardinal Congregations and the Vatican Press Office. Together, they helped ensure that the many media outlets arriving for the Conclave received accurate information and clarity about the sacred process unfolding behind the scenes. It was a task carried out with care, collaboration, and reverence for the significance of the moment. What struck Fr. Marcin most during those days, was the overwhelming sense that the Church is truly guided by the Holy Spirit. Every decision, every conversation, and every moment of prayer was rooted in discernment and trust in God’s will. It was a powerful reminder that this same Spirit is at work in each of our lives, calling us to listen, to respond, and to walk in faith.
Now, as the Church embraces a new chapter under the leadership of Pope Leo XIV, let us continue to pray—for wisdom, for courage, and for the gifts of the Holy Spirit to guide him in shepherding the people of God.
